Overview
The Washington County, Iowa, Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial board made up of 5 citizens appointed by the Board of Supervisors to a 5-year term. The majority of the Board of Adjustment members reside in the unincorporated area of the County. The Board of Adjustment hears requests for variances, conditional uses and appeal of administrative decisions. The Board of Adjustment decisions are final and can only be appealed to District Court within 30-days of the written decision. They are governed by provisions of the Code of Iowa and the Washington County, Iowa, Subdivision Ordinance.
The Board of Adjustment meets monthly, if they have pending applications.
