County Treasurer


We encourage property tax and motor vehicle renewal payments to be paid through the mail, through the county drop box, or online at www.iowatreasurers.org.

Driver's License services are offered by appointment only.

Duties and Responsibilities

The County Treasurer is elected at general election every 4 years, with responsibilities generally focusing on four distinct functions of county government:
  1. Finance
  2. Property Tax
  3. Motor Vehicle
  4. Drivers License
As the county's chief financial officer, the treasurer is responsible for the receipt, management, disbursement, and investment of all monies paid to Washington County.

Hours:

Property Tax:  8:00 am to 4:15 pm -- Monday through Friday
Motor Vehicle:  8:00 am to 4:15 pm (no vehicle transfers after 4:00 pm)
Driver's License: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (all services by appointment only)

* Car Driving Tests:  By appointment only
